"Last year, I noticed a leak coming from the roof of my condo. Our HOA found a guy to come out for repairs. He was going to fix my leak, another leak over a different unit, and clean off the mold growing on the tiles. Long story, but my leak was never repaired and he disappeared without finishing the job. He even left without his ladder! Anyway, I didn't figure out that the leak was not fixed (since he left in the middle of power-washing the mold off the tiles) until this year when the rain came.

Patrick from Mar Vista Roofing was at the house the next morning, and I had an estimate before he left. Once I made a decision to use Mar Vista for the work, the permit was pulled the next morning and the demolition crew (complete with dumpster for old shingles) tore off the old roof before lunch! The job was completed the next day. Mar Vista is fully licensed and insured, including for workers' comp. The rates are reasonable and if you find a company that can do it for significantly less, they are likely not carrying the appropriate amount of insurance to protect you and your property. I would gladly use Mar Vista Roofing again."

Mom is very happy with the prompt service and diagnosis to repair a leaking vent in the garage roof. Especially since she had responded previously to a cold call (yikes!) from another company that told her the roof needed to be replaced - that guy never got on a ladder to inspect the roof from the outside and made his assessment standing inside the garage with a flashlight. Mom said the kind gentleman from Mar Vista Roofing arrived in a nice truck with ample ladders, and he examined the vent thoroughly from outside atop the roof before determining the roof was fine and only the vent needed to be resealed - a minimal repair by comparison and cost. "Had a small, but growing waterline on the ceiling in one of the bedrooms in my house, and rain was predicted for the coming weekend. I left a message with Patrick on a Monday, got him out for an estimate on Tuesday, and he fixed the leak with a silicone patch on Thursday morning for a very reasonable price. I wanted to wait for a few rains to pass before I wrote a review, and I'm happy to say that the repair has held up great since then! Not only that, I found out from a bunch of my neighbors that he has done good work all over our street - my next door neighbor told me he's had Patrick working on his house for over 10 years."

"Patrick is the roofer of choice in my neighborhood and now I know why. His estimate was sensible and below the two others I got. He recommended GAF brand shingles, which is in line with Consumer Reports as being the best buy. We chatted for a while and my impression was that he was experienced, personable and a man of integrity. His removal crew came the next week to remove the old roof and there were a lot of workers and the activity was amazing. They were fast and efficient. I was kind of blown away. The roofing crew came a few days later (there was a surprise threat of rain and they came early the next morning and tarped the roof for safety) . Again it was an experienced and really competent crew. The new roof looks great. They cleaned up so that the yard was immaculate and free of nails. It's a pleasure to recommend Mar Vista Roofing."

"Patrick came out to address a water leak and within minutes told me the truth about the issue. He let me know that it wasn't a roofing issue but a siding that had no flashing and therefore before a roofer could relay the shingles over the flashing the siding had to be replaced. Par tick could have put some tar over the trouble area and gotten paid, however he was honest and told me what I really needed to do to get rid of the problem.
